What's the Rush?

Writer: Kimberly SKimberly S

Patience is one of the fruits of the Spirit. But, we also live in a culture where having to be patient is an inconvenience. things around us actually cater to us being more impatient. from Amazon’s 2-day shipping promise to the express checkout at the supermarket to TSA Pre-Check when we travel to eating Cup-o-Noodles, Hot Pockets & microwaveable sweet potatoes (can’t believe that’s actually a thing!). There are just so many subliminal hints steering our thoughts to believing we have no time or are running out of it. Everything seems to hurry us along at our default speed…..FAST. The magic word is NOW. This may work for internet speeds & computer reboots but what about us? How do you rush along an issue of the heart, mind or soul? Read more below to find out what the Bible has to say about this matter......

Instant Healing

There are some things in life that should never be rushed. Like picking out a house you plan to buy or getting to know someone before you decide to marry them. Some things just take time and we allow the time for it, when it’s important. I want you to take the same careful approach with your HEALING. Healing isn’t something you can rush. Mainly because you’re not the one granting your healing, God is. Only He knows the speed at which it should be delivered. Some healing is gradual and some healing is instant. We read this all throughout the Bible. For example, the woman with the issue of blood in Luke 8. Although she had been suffering for 12 years, the second she touched Jesus’ hem she was made whole. I think this point is significant for all of you Honeys out there who've tried everything to self soothe or made attempts to heal yourself instead of looking to God as your healing source.

Gradual Healing

But what about healing that may take longer? How about the story of the blind man in Mark 8? Jesus actually layed hands on him twice! I really believe He uses our circumstances no matter how unbearable they feel to teach us how to be an overcomer in spite of it. He's not so much concerned with our comfort as He is the condition of our Heart. Sometimes it takes going through the valley to teach us lessons that we could learn no other way. There’s always a lesson in each healing journey. Even if that lesson is for you to show someone else how to overcome. Romans 8 reminds us that nothing is wasted. As long as you’re still breathing there’s a chance for you to get up and fight, spiritually speaking.

The "Delay" that was right on time

What about Jesus seeming to be “too late”, which we know is never the case. John 11 shows us that He let Lazarus go to the grave and lay in his tomb for FOUR days before raising him from the dead. I think this goes to show that He responds when He sees fit, but His response time had nothing to do with His ability to heal, but everything to do with growing the faith of the believer, the on-looker and the bigger picture He was trying to paint for everyone around Him. This was also a foreshadowing of the great miracle He would shock the world with by also raising from the dead after His crucifixion. I would venture to say, the longer the wait, the bigger your breakthrough and it will be so worth it. Don't lose heart.

“Comparison is the thief of Joy.” -President Theodore Roosevelt

The important thing to remember here is that your timeline may look different than mine, or your neighbors. Comparison is the thief of joy, so don’t worry about anyone else’s progress but your own. Don’t look at the clock. Don’t look at how long it’s been since you’ve been carrying this pain inside your heart or going through this rough patch. Once you make the choice to lay it down at the feet of Jesus and consistently spend time with the Creator of Time to work on You and only you, He WILL show up. The way I see it, every prayer you pray, is one prayer closer to your miracle. What if the next prayer or the prayer after that is the breakthrough prayer? Please don’t give up Honey! The joy that awaits you one the other side of this, is nothing compared to what you’re feeling now. Don’t be concerned with how long it takes you to get there. The important thing is that you arrive.

Happy Healing,

Love,
